Rabbit Toys - How Can you Entertain your Bunny?

When I was told to close my eyes and hold open my arms for my birthday gift the last thing I was expecting was my little white bundle of fur we later named Flurry. I thought what can you do with a rabbit besides look and pet them. Little did I know that they were great pets that you could really play with and love that had their own distinct personalities.

We quickly found Flurry loved to chew so we searched the house for items that she would enjoy playing with. Some of her favorites included empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls. Also, when she was outside of her cage empty wrapping paper tubes gave her a bigger challenge and it was fun watching her chase it. We also kept one of my old sweaters draped over her cage on the top and she would enjoy chewing it up and pulling pieces in through the top. Also, the pet stores carry a wide selection of chew toys that look like fruit and vegetables. Also shredded up newspaper is fun for them to play in. Flurry enjoyed digging and nesting in her cedar shavings as well. Even being an avid chewer, we never had issues with her biting or chewing anything but her toys.

Flurry also loved to jump and run. She consistently looked liked a little gymnast doing 360 degree turns. We engaged her love to jump and run by providing her with balls that she could chase. Tennis balls worked and so did any of the rubber bouncy balls. We also purchased through local pet stores plastic balls that had bells and other noisemakers inside. Watching Flurry bat around and chase the balls was a constant joy.

One of Flurry’s favorite pastimes were treats. We did indulge her quite a bit here. Every morning when I would get up her head would be poking up looking eagerly for her yogurt drop. We would also keep popcorn sticks that were purchased through the pet store. These hung down from the top of her cage and she would stand on her back paws and munch away. On her cage, we also had a side container that she could dig out and enjoy her timothy hay from. This helped with her delicate stomach. Also, we kept pineapple chunks for her to enjoy but this was also important because it kept hairballs away.

Bunnies have a lot more personality than most people would think. They love to run and play. And as good owners, we want to engage them in toys that will give them enjoyment. From toilet paper rolls to balls, they all provide great sources of fun. So get creative and be prepared to get in the floor and play with your little furry pal because you're really their favorite toy of all.
